Healing Girl Summer

During this healing girl summer..

I’ve found myself spending more time in solitude than I expected but, I also been allowing more pleasure and softness into my life. I cut back a lot on my social media consumption. I find myself rarely posting these days or having a desire to. I do miss being consistent on my blog, but I’m still learning to allow myself grace and patience.

I feel like this time of the year is the time to tap into that masculine energy and get things done. I plan to do that by executing the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year. I feel like I slacked off pretty bad but unexpected things happened, and that’s just how life goes I guess.

Life Update + Events

//My nail tech did another fire nail design for me back in July.

Although, I’m currently taking a break from artificial nails/acrylics, I’m more dedicated to making sure I keep my nails done at all times in the name of divine femininity.

//It’s still been hell working in healthcare

with monkeypox going around and patients are freaking out about every little spot or pimple they get. But I wonder why monkeypox isn’t getting a lot of media coverage like coronavirus? are we just not taking these viruses serious anymore? I’m happy to not be wearing masks as much but at what cost? I hate how things just disappear without any real answers.

//My Ace turned 8 years old on August 24th, 2022. I love him so much!

//July 29th to July 31st, 2022:

I went to Rehoboth Beach with my family and we also attended KarmaFest which was happening the same weekend in Milton, DE. To sum up what KarmaFest is, it’s basically a festival for spiritual beings and free-spirited hippies. KarmaFest® is the ultimate Holistic/Psychic/Yoga festival. At KarmaFest, they had several vendors to shop from where you can find crystals, jewelry, books, clothing, art, and so much more.

A few photos from Rehoboth weekend:

The festival also offered on-site reiki and massage therapy, along with workshop classes (on things like candle magic, etc.), drum circle, live yoga class, and belly dancing. There was always something to do there, but the only downside was that they choose a location in the middle of a field with no trees or shade, and it was hotter than a hog’s asshole that weekend. The only shade you could find were under the event space and vendor tents. We opted out of buying any food at the festival but filled up on shaved ice for sure.

KarmaFest’s motto:  Enhance Your Body, Expand Your Mind, Awaken Your Spirit.

// New Car Alert- My 2018 Honda Civic.

//August 12th to 14th, 2022- was my family reunion weekend.

We spent it at a serene retreat center in Virginia that had cabin lodging, a pool, basketball court, playground, hiking, zip-lining, and plenty of picnic areas. It was such a blessing and a great time seeing my family after 2 years with no reunion thanks to covid’s raggedy ass. My heart felt so full. My family reunion helped me heal through laughter, love, and good food.

//Loc update:

My locs turned 8 months on August 10th, 2022.

//Feeling like THAT girl

I felt fine as fuck during my trip to Rehoboth so enjoy these pics of me basking in that #Bodypositivity. This summer, I’ve been honoring my body and my sexuality so much more. I’m being more conscious about how I speak to my body, what I put on it, and what I put inside of it *mischievous smirking*. As I am now four months post birth-control, I feel great for the most part. I finally feel like I’m getting my body back to myself, if that makes sense. I don’t have the perfect athletic body but it’s mine and I love it anyway.

Entertainment

I gave in and re-subscribed to STARZ again and I’m glad that I did cause there’s so many shows I now have access to. I’m enjoying being able to binge-watch complete seasons instead of watching them as soon as they premiere, and then having to wait a whole week or two for the next episode to be available.

I really haven’t been on Netflix very much. I completely abandoned my watch list. I’m not sure if it’s just my account, but I noticed a lot of buffering issues so that turns me away unfortunately. Sling TV would never!

T.V. Shows

  1. P-Valley. “P-Valley is an American drama television series created by Katori Hall. The series is an adaptation of Hall’s play Pussy Valley and follows several people who work at a strip club in the Mississippi Delta”- Wikipedia. (Start watching on Starz). I’m in love with this show! I always admired pole dancers so I’m very intrigued by the skills these ladies possess. Uncle Cliff, Lil’ Murda, Ms. Ernestine, and Roulette are my favorites. There’s so much I could say about this show but you simply have to see it for yourself.
  2. All the Queen’s Men. “Marilyn “Madam” DeVille is at the top of her game in the Atlanta nightclub industry, and she won’t let anyone stand in her way as she rules a crew of male exotic dancers.”- BET+. (Start watching on BET+). This show is kind of similar to P-Valley in regards to the strippers but instead they have male strippers which I find so cringy. Eva Marcelle absolutely kills it as Madam though.
  3. Alone. “Hardcore survivalists seek to stay alive in extreme locations around the world.”- Hulu. (Start watching on Hulu). Listennn, I know for sure I wouldn’t survive 5 minutes alone in the wilderness so I give these people their props.
  4. American Horror Stories, Season 2. “A spin-off weekly anthology series, from the creators of “American Horror Story,” that features a different horror story each episode.”- Hulu. {Start watching now on Hulu). Dollhouse, Bloody Mary, and Facelift are my favorite episodes so far this season. What a big improvement from season 1.
  5. Power Book II: Ghost. “Power Book II: Ghost picks up shortly after the earth-shattering events of Power as Tariq St. Patrick grapples with a new world order.”- Starz. (Start watching now on Starz). I swear Tariq is so clever but his ass stays in trouble.
  6. Power Book III: Raising Kanan. “Set in South Jamaica, Queens, in 1991, “Raising Kanan” is a prequel to the original “Power” franchise. This family drama revolves around the coming of age of Kanan Stark, a cocaine distributor with an emerging network of dealers across NYC.”- Starz. (Start watching now on Starz).
  7. 60 Days In– Season 7. “For the first time in “60 Days In” history, all participants have previously been arrested for crimes of their own and collectively have served more than 40 years behind bars. Will these formerly incarcerated participants be able to survive everything thrown their way during the voluntary stint in jail or will the challenges of going back behind bars be too much for them to handle?”- A&E. (Start watching now on A&E).
  8. Hotel Hell. “Hotel Hell features Gordon Ramsay on a quest to fix horrid hotels, awful inns and just plain bad bed and breakfasts. After more than a decade of running restaurants in some of the world’s top hotels, Ramsay knows firsthand the crucial importance of surpassing guests’ highest expectations.”- Hulu. (Start watching now on Hulu). I started re-watching this show cause Gordon Ramsey cussing somebody out is so entertaining!

Movies

  1. Respect. “Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s choir to her international stardom, “Respect” is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice and become the queen of soul.”- Amazon Prime. (Watch movie on Prime Video). Jennifer Hudson did phenomenal!!!
  2. Karen. “A racist Caucasian woman pulls out all the stops to rid her neighborhood of the peaceful African American couple who just moved in next door.”- Amazon Prime. (Watch now on Prime Video). This movie is so ridiculous that it’s almost hilarious.
  3. Day Shift. “An LA vampire hunter has a week to come up with the cash to pay for his kid’s tuition and braces. Trying to make a living these days just might kill him.”- Netflix. (Watch movie on Netflix). Jamie Foxx is one of the few actors that can do it all (both acting and singing) and I love everything he starrs in.
  4. Me Time. “With his family away, a devoted stay-at-home dad enjoys his first me time in years by joining his hard-partying old friend on a wild birthday adventure.” (Watch movie on Netflix). It was just OK. Feel like I’ve seen it before.

Music

Now, this is probably my favorite section of my monthly favorites’ posts, I love listening to and talking about music and there’s been soooo much good music over the last 2 months. Some of my favorite artists have dropped new projects- Larry June (I want to see him in concert like, real bad- he has a good spirit), Demi Lovato, Brent Faiyaz, Rico Nasty, and JID.

I’m pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Lizzo’s ‘Special’ album. She wasn’t an artist I would choose to listen to too often, but I think I’m a fan now. I see how talented she really is. Her sound is a little more “Pop” than I personally like but I’m here for it. I wish people stop commenting on her body and just leave her the hell alone.

I am infatuated with FKJ’s ‘V I N C E N T’ album which included features from Santana, Little Dragon, Toro y Moi, and ((( o ))). The best words to describe FKJ’s sound is smooth and enchanting.

I’m still in love with Brent Faiyaz’s ‘Wasteland’ album, JIDs ‘The Forever Story’ is currently on repeat (he devours every song), I randomly wake up singing ‘Cozy’ by Beyonce, ‘Woozie’ by K Camp is my favorite song at the moment, and I’m loving the new era of Demi Lovato. I feel like she’s re-embracing her rock n’ roll side. I can tell she’s finally making the music that she wants to make again.

Sadly, I was a little disappointed in Burna Boys ‘Love, Damini’ album, it didn’t have many bangers. It’s nowhere near topping ‘African Giant’ but he’s still a great artist and I would still pay money to see him in concert.

Lastly, I’m not sure how I feel about Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Trauamazine’ album as a whole (I hate the albums name, btw). I really haven’t been feeling her music since 2019’s ‘Fever’ album. Flo Milli, Doechii, Rico Nasty, Lakeyah, and Glorilla are eating the rap girlies up right now.

Podcast Episodes:

Caresha aka Yung Miami (1/2 of the City Girls) has a new YouTube talk show segment with Revolt TV called ‘Caresha Please’ and I’m liking it. I also just like hearing her talk. So far, she has interviewed rapper- Kevin Gates (yuck), JT (1/2 of the City Girls), and Megan Thee Stallion. It doesn’t even seem like they are being interviewed but rather just friends having casual convo which makes it so unique. Check out ‘Caresha Please’ latest episode.

If you haven’t come across one of Funny Marco’s celebrity interview videos, then you’re really missing out on a good laugh. I first came across his videos on Facebook about a month ago. After watching the Orlando Brown interview- I was hooked. His videos have grown large in popularity over the past couple weeks, racking in as much as 1.7 million views. Marco’s facial expressions be having me dying of laughter. I also love how much of a good sport all of the celebrities are because they be playing along with him. My favorite interviews were with Lil Duval and Sukihana.

Sit down with Lil Duval.
