Life Update
I have officially secured funding for the rest of my degree program, and I won’t have to owe a dime back to anyone- praise God! But now, the hard work really begins.
Entertainment
The Wu-Tang series came to an end and I’m happy I got to learn about their individual stories and how they came up in the industry and I definitely have a newfound respect and appreciation for them as a group and I can’t wait to purchase some Wu-Wear. I’m specifically super impressed with Method Man’s career and how good of an actor he has become! I’m loving him in the Power Book II series.
Next, the Bel-Air season two finale had me in shambles the last two episodes. I was so pissed at Hilary but at the same time I can definitely understand her side of things and I also really felt for Jazz too. Jazz was literally waiting for her all night to show up to his event and when she finally does, she runs off because she sees him dancing?! like bffr, it’s all a misunderstanding. I do feel like everything Jazz said about Hilary was the truth though. Hilary is a little superficial. I’m satisfied with Will being back with Lisa because I didn’t care for miss “south central”, Will and Lisa are actually good for one another. Will’s growth, selflessness, and maturity this season was great, I love how he recognizes his privilege and was able to help the other players with their contracts. I truly hope Doc was being genuine through all of this and that he truly has good intentions for the team.
Also, I’m worried about Uncle Phil and how he plans to keep a professional relationship with that heifer he works with now. I’m curious to see who and why someone is stalking Jeffrey cause he’s a G and he needs a bigger storyline next season. And finally, I’m relieved Carlton finally came clean about being a drug addict. I love the tough love uncle Phil gave to him after finding out, how they were able to give each other grace, and they all recognized their faults. And then at the end of it all, Uncle Phil offered Carlton a hug. No more words were needed in that exchange between father and son. My eye ducts were very sweaty after that. This is 100% a great series- 10/10.
T.V. Shows
- I AM A KILLER | Netflix Official Site. “Death row inmates convicted of capital murder give firsthand accounts of their crimes in this documentary series” (Netflix). I’ve never seen a true crime series like this one and I am obsessed. You get to hear from the suspect, the victim, both families, prosecutors, defense attorneys, etc. I love how my perspective shifts so much throughout the episodes. You could be feeling sorry for the suspect in the beginning and then by the end, you understand exactly why they deserve to be in prison.
- I AM A STALKER | Netflix Official Site. “Convicted stalkers and survivors share harrowing accounts of harassment, abuse and other crimes in this documentary series” (Netflix). When being down bad for someone goes very wrong.
- The Night Agent | Netflix Official Site. “While monitoring an emergency line, a vigilant FBI agent answers a call that plunges him into a deadly conspiracy involving a mole at the White House” (Netflix).
- Dear Mama, | Hulu. “A deeply personal five-part series that defies the conventions of traditional documentary storytelling to share an illuminating saga of mother and son, Afeni and Tupac Shakur” (Netflix).
- Border Security: Australia’s Front Line | Tubi. “Follow Australia’s Immigration, Customs and Quarantine departments as they deal with drug smugglers, illegal immigrants, terrorism and more” (Tubi). There are only two seasons of this show available on Tubi, but I watch more recent episodes through my SlingTV subscription. Apparently, the Border Security series has been around since 2004 but yet I heard it was supposedly canceled after 3 seasons due to privacy law violations but the Australia one has been out since 2015. But whatever, I think it’s interesting seeing how many bags of drugs someone can digest among other crazy things that they get caught with. Fun fact: in one point in time, I wanted to be a customs and border patrol officer when I was majoring in Criminal Justice.
- FROM | Prime Video. “FROM unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest” (Prime Video). This show reminds me of ‘Wayward Pines’ an old Fox network show that got canceled after the second season back in 2016. There’s many similarities between the two shows.
- Resident Evil | Netflix Official Site. “Years after a viral outbreak caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker vows to bring down those responsible while fighting to survive against the infected” (Netflix). I’m a big fan of the Resident Evil movie franchise but I was reluctant to watch the series for some reason. I eventually gave in and I really enjoyed it although the main characters- Jade and Billie were annoying. Most of everything that happened could’ve been avoided if everyone was honest and more careful. I really wanted to see what they would do with the 2nd season, but I guess no one will ever know because it was canceled after the first season. F*ck you Netflix for always canceling the best shows with the most potential.
Movies + Films
- All Quiet on the Western Front | Netflix Official Site. “When 17-year-old Paul joins the Western Front in World War I, his initial excitement is soon shattered by the grim reality of life in the trenches” (Netflix). This movie is so messed up. That Oscar was well deserved.
- Praise This | Peacock. “In a new cinematic musical event set in the world of Atlanta’s competitive gospel youth choir praise teams, a young woman with dreams of being a musical superstar is forced to join her cousin’s struggling underdog praise team in the lead up to a national competition” (Peacock).
- My Name Is Mo’Nique | Netflix Official Site. “You think you know Mo’Nique? From staring down a racist teacher to her grandmother’s sex warning, she spills all in this stand-up comedy special” (Netflix). Hilarious! I love me some Mo’Nique because she always keeps it real.
- Big Fifty: The DelRhonda Hood Story | BET Plus. “From a young age, DelRhonda Hood hustled to support herself and her child, and used her street savvy and charisma to become a serious player in Detroit’s crime world” (BET).
- Scream VI – Watch Full Movie on Paramount Plus. “The four survivors from the most recent Woodsboro Ghostface killings have moved to New York City for a fresh start. Just as they begin to feel a sense of normalcy, they receive that infamous call. Ghostface is more brutal and relentless than ever and will stop at nothing to hunt them down” (Paramount). This was a good solid movie overall, I really enjoyed the first half. The kills were great, the opening and the subway scenes were awesome and built a lot of tension. I wholeheartedly disliked the Ghostface reveal, the motive, and the entire 3rd act following the reveal. But I would still recommend this film.
Music Favorites
I never realized how much music I listen to throughout the month until it’s time to gather my monthly favorites and I have to attach like 15+ album links (as you will see below). So, I’m feeling a bit overstimulated with music right now. Will that stop me from listening to music? absolutely not.
Tyler the Creator released “Call me if you get lost: the estate sale” out of nowhere and it’s everything! This is why I’m such a Tyler the Creator stan because he never misses, and he knows how to keep people talkin’. ‘Dogtooth’ is one of my favorite new singles on the estate sale. I would recommend checking out his featured episode on ‘Hulu’s Rap Caviar Presents…’, you get to understand more about his creative process and how he really made a name for himself in the hip-hop/rap industry. Way more than a rapper- he’s a true artist!
Daniel Caesar is back with a new album, and it was worth the wait. I think ‘NEVER ENOUGH’ was a great follow up to his ‘Freudian’ album. The flow/transitions are great, the emotions were hittin’, and it really just sounds good. Always’ and ‘Homiesexual’ are two of my favorite singles from the album.
On my IG stories a few weeks ago, I said Don Toliver’s ‘Love Sick’ album is now my favorite Don Toliver project after hearing the deluxe. ‘Life of a Don’ was my previous favorite. Life of a Don was more vibey riding music but Don’s creativity on ‘Love Sick’ is unmatched. The way he created a whole short movie for this album was a genius marketing strategy.
I love every single song off the album but “Luckily I’m havin” ft. Teezo Touchdown has had me in a chokehold for over a month. It’s crazy how happy I get every time I hear it. I know the live performance is gonna go crazyyy. Teezo Touchdown’s vocals is givin’ 90s R&B vibes. I’m also excited to hear a full-length album from Teezo Touchdown. His newest single “Familiarity” has been on repeat every weekday, it’s so relatable and refreshing.
Another favorite song of mine right now is ‘Go’ by Baby Rose. It’s a song about not giving up on love and it really gets me in my feelings. Baby Rose voice is unreal, full of so much passion and soul.
Favorite newly discovered artists: Hotel Ugly, Yaya Bey, Saint Harison, BKTheRula, and Adi Oasis.
I most specifically want to spotlight Hotel Ugly whom I randomly came across on Spotify. Their single ‘Shut up my mom’s calling’ came up in my “recommended songs” and I must say, Spotify is the best app for discovering new music/artists, but Apple Music’s sound quality is superior. Hotel Ugly’s sound is so unique. They have a contemporary R&B flow mixed with alternative and indie pop/rock. Check out their latest album “Ugly Duck” linked below.

Nail Trauma / Splinter hemorrhage?

It’s kind of hard to see from the photo but I believe I have a splinter hemorrhage which occurs when blood vessels under your nail bed sustain damage. They can happen after you injure yourself. Trauma to the nail is the most common cause of the condition. Stubbing your toe or getting acrylic nails can cause this. I had the most painful and aggressive acrylic nail removal at the nail salon over the past weekend so I’m almost certain my nail received trauma due to that. As a result, my nails feel super sensitive and tender so its most definitely time to take a break on acrylics.
I’ve been getting my nails done consistently for the past 10 months and neglecting my natural nails. So, let this be a wakeup call to all my nail girlies- take breaks in between and make sure your natural nails stay strong and healthy. Nail melanoma is real and more dangerous to your health than skin melanoma. Luckily, most splinter hemorrhages don’t require any treatment and should go away on its own as my nails grow out so I will keep you all posted. I will also be following up in the next few days with my dermatologist to be sure.
New Perfume Scents

Viktor & Rolf + Magic Salty Flower
I was recently given a free small sample of this perfume, and I instantly fell in love with it. Only to find out that it’s been discontinued so this just might be my 13th reason. All I can find are the small sample sized bottles or the overpriced ones through eBay resellers.
Top notes are Sea Salt, Bergamot and Orange Blossom.
Middle notes are Frangipani, Jasmine Sambac and Tuberose.
Base notes are Ambroxan and Moss.

This is a beautiful strong unisex scent. I like layering it with my Banana Republic- Tobacco and Tonka Bean perfume and it’s not overpowering at all. No.12 Bousval reminds be of ‘Cool Water’ (one of my dads favorites) cologne but more woody and sweet. Y’all know I love smelling like a handsome man in a suit and confusing people lol.
Top note: Bergamot, Cardamom, Valencia Orange.
Mid note: Heliotrope Flower, White Ginger, Petitgrain.
Base note: Gilded Amber, Cedar Noir, Myrrh.
Favorite Snack
Grapes are the superior fruit.

I mean, the photo speaks for itself! I’ve been snacking on fruits mostly and grapes are my forever go-to.
That’s all for now, xoxo
